Suspect In Deadly Robbery Swiftly Arrested
HUA HIN AND PROVINCIAL POLICE PRAISED AFTER SWOOP TO NAB KILLER
A man who was caught on CCTV attacking a hotel receptionist in the early hours of Monday (19th January) while she was sleeping behind the counter, who died from the injuries he inflicted, has been quickly tracked down and arrested by local and provincial police on Tuesday afternoon (20th January). The horrific and brutal attack on Wirin “Nui” Thaolipo, 35, was carried out during a robbery at the hotel in Soi Hua Hin 88/1, as the man paced around in the reception area before climbing over the counter and striking her at least 14 times with an iron bar, which he left at the scene. ALCOHOL RULES MAY EASE AS ‘VISA RUN’ RULES GET TOUGHER

The Thai government’s version of ‘doing the Hokey Cokey’ is ongoing in the past week, as they put their left foot in (it) with announcements of both stricter fines and enforcement of alcohol and visa exemption rules, while then putting their right foot out by easing the former and clarifying the latter, leaving both tourists…

MOTORWAY PROPOSAL FOR NAKHON PATHOM – CHA-AM

The frequently torturous road journey from Hua Hin to Bangkok could be considerably alleviated in the next few years if the Department of Highways manages to get both Cabinet approval for the proposed Nakhon PathomโCha-am motorway project, and residents in the path of it to agree to whatever compensation package is available. The project, covering…

In The Year 2025
INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS, CLEAN AIR AWARD, TOURISM ON THE UP – GOOD TIMES AHEAD FOR THE AREA?

The headline doesn’t scan as well as the 1969 hit song “In The Year 2525” by Zager and Evans, but thankfully the year so far in Hua Hin and the surrounding areas has been a long way from the dire predictions that song made for human existence, and some might say that the future for…

FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE FOREST FIRES NEAR HUA HIN
Residents across much of Hua Hin and Cha Am were affected by smoke and other air pollution emanating from several forest fires to the north west of Hua Hin, close to the Black Mountain golf course and water park. The Suomi NPP satellite detected three heat hotspots in the area (approximately shown on the map further down in this article), with one in the morning of Tuesday 27th January, and another two subsequently, which were followed up by reports from citizens. Officials from the Phetchaburi Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, and an initial team of 20 officers from three different teams went to the area to contain and extinguish the fires, followed up with a further 25 personnel and a helicopter on the ensuing days.

A Beach Treat
CHA AM OFFERING A NATURAL BEACH EXPERIENCE
Have you ever wished to go to a beach completely free of umbrellas, deckchairs, tables and other things cluttering the natural beauty? Well, after the initial Wednesdays in Cha Am promotion, where the local authorities set aside a five kilometre stretch of the beach to be an ‘umbrellas and deckchairs not welcome’ space, they have now expanded this so that every weekday at the southern end of Cha-am Beach the beach will be completely open to create a more natural, and relaxed beach experience, free to be used by beachgoers as they wish – so, for example, pitching their own tent or placing their own beach mat so they can enjoy the beach as nature provided, rather than the rather more crowded experience at the central part, similar to the area on Hua Hin Beach near the Hilton, particularly at weekends.

Bangkok Flights Edge Closer
EZY AIRLINES GRANTED LICENCE AND ROUTE ALLOCATION
The granting of a civil aviation operating licence and route allocation for flights between Hua Hin and Bangkok to Ezy Airlines, who are operated by M-Landarch Co Ltd, has brought the prospect of faster travel to the capital a step closer, over two decades since such a service was previously available. The confirmation from officials was announced during a Prachuap Khiri Khan Joint Public and Private Sector Committee (JPPC) meeting this week, which was discussing the province’s tourism performance. One of the meeting’s discussions was to discuss the idea of a formal letter of support regarding the launch of scheduled flights.
